CARING FOR YOUR CELLPHONE
The following tips will assist you in ensuring that your cellphone remains
in good working order:
DO
1. Retain your cellphone guide for Warranty information.
2. Buy yourself a protective casing to ensure your cellphone is not damaged.
3. Charge your cellphone only when necessary, i.e. allow your battery
to be fully discharged, prior to recharging the battery.
4. Repair your cellphone at an authorised repair centre only, i.e. Vodacare
Green Point or nearest Vodacare,your cellphone manufacturer or their
appointed service centres
DON'T
1. Use your cellphone near steam, e.g. while in the bathroom or whilst
boiling the kettle.
2. Use your cellphone while walking in the rain.
3. Put your cellphone in any liquid, e.g. water, cool drink, coffee,
etc.
4. Let your cellphone be near your body for long periods or while exercising.
5. Place your cellphone near any air-conditioning when it is very hot
and humid outside. Condensation can take place when moving from a very
cool place into a very humid environment.
6. Place your cellphone on a surface where vibration could cause the
cellphone to fall from the surface.
7. Put your cellphone in an environment where movement, like bending
down, will cause the cellphone the flex (e.g. pocket or soft bag without
a protective pouch or cover).
8. Allow anyone to tamper with, or change, the serial number under the
battery compartment of the cellphone.
9. Use your cellphone whilst driving, without a hands-free kit.
REPAIRING YOUR CELLPHONE
In the unfortunate event that your cellphone becomes faulty, please ensure
that you consult an authorised repair centre, i.e. a Vodacare Franchise,
your cellphone manufacturer or their
appointed service centres, or kindly contact Vodacare on 082
1944, for an authorised repair centre closest to you. Repairs
will be done at no charge to you, when your cellphone is within the following
Warranty periods, subject to the terms and conditions below:
1. Manufacturer Warranty
The manufacturer offers a 1-year Warranty on the cellphone (excluding
the battery and charger). This Warranty is applicable from the date of
purchase or the date of activation on the Vodacom network, whichever
is the earlier. The Warranty is subject to the manufacturer's specific
terms and conditions as per the manufacturer's booklet.
For the battery and charger Warranty period, please refer to the manufacturer's
booklet inserted.
> The manufacturer's Warranty will be null and void in the following
circumstances:
> If the model number and/or 15-digit serial number have been deleted
or altered in any way.
> If prior repairs or evaluations have been made to the cellphone
by an unauthorised person/ repair centre.
> If the cellphone has been damaged, misused or neglected in
any way.
2. Vodacom 2-Year Warranty
In addition to the standard manufacturer 1-year Warranty, Vodacom
extends this standard Warranty by a further one year. This extended
Warranty covers the cost of repairs to the cellphone only and specifically
excludes software upgrades, replacement of the battery, charger
and any other accessories.This Warranty can only be honoured at
a Vodacare Repair Centre.
TERMS & CONDITIONS OF VODACOM'S 2-YEAR WARRANTY
The Vodacom 2-Year Warranty is subject to the terms and conditions
below.
The Vodacom 2-Year Warranty WILL APPLY only if:
> The cellphone is handed to a Vodacare Repair Centre.
> The manufacturer's standard 1-year Warranty has expired.
> The cellphone was sold by Vodacom and the IMEI number (the
15-digit unique seriel number of the cellphone, found on a sticker
in the battery compartment) matches the serial number
displayed when you dial *#06# on the keypad of the cellphone.
> The cellphone has been in use on the Vodacom network for
at least 30 days during the last 90 days at the time of presenting
the cellphone for repair. "In use" means the making
and/or receiving of calls. Please note that the Warranty period
will not be suspended during periods when the cellphone is
not in use on the Vodacom network.
The Vodacom 2-Year Warranty will NOT apply if:
> The cellphone has been mishandled, misused, neglected
or wilfully damaged.
> The cellphone has been improperly tested, altered or
defaced in any way.
> A defect arises from the failure to follow instructions
in the user manual or not adhering to the product specifications.
> A defect arises from corrosion including liquid damage.
> There is damage caused by, but not limited to, falling,
shock, lightning, liquid, fire, misuse or neglect.
> Damage caused by repairs performed by non-authorised
service workshops, or opening of the cellphone by non-authorised
persons.
